The European funds programme for transport and infrastructure for 2014–2020 will also be used to build Sofia’s third metro line. Within a few years, Sofia, the capital of the Republic of Bulgaria, has acquired two metro lines crossing the city in a figure-eight pattern and also reaching Terminal 2 of Sofia International Airport, less than 30 minutes from the centre.

The planned investment will be around €1 billion.

Sofia’s current metro network is efficient, orderly and clean and, for EUR 0.50, offers fast and convenient travel around the city.

Public procurement in Bulgaria, particularly major road infrastructure, expressways and motorways, ports, airports and railways, offers excellent business opportunities for foreign investors and major companies specialising in public contracts.
