Understanding the engagement
The client must be able to understand the work entrusted to the Firm, the professional carrying it out and the main issues affecting the process. The initial discussion examines the objective, available documents and any urgent matters. Acceptance of the engagement also requires checking that the client can be represented and that there are no conflicts of interest.
Fees and expenses
Following a preliminary review of the enquiry, the Firm defines the scope of services and sets out the relevant financial terms. The cost estimate must distinguish fees from expenses and the work of other professionals. If additional requirements or significant changes arise during the matter, these must be addressed with the client.
Information and confidentiality
The client receives updates on relevant developments and decisions requiring their assessment. Documents and information are handled in compliance with professional confidentiality and applicable rules. In dealings between Italy and Bulgaria, coordination takes account of professional responsibilities and the ethical rules of the countries concerned.
Realistic assessments
Legal protection requires a specific assessment of the facts, evidence and available remedies. Timing, the outcome of a dispute and counterparties’ conduct also depend on factors outside the firm’s control. The professional relationship rests on a clear explanation of the options and risks, without advance guarantees of the outcome.
