Patents and intellectual property. Trademarks and patents are governed, respectively, by the Marks and Geographical Indications Act and the Industrial Design Act, applicable to Bulgarian individuals and legal entities and to foreign persons belonging to countries that are parties to international conventions to which Bulgaria is a party.
Legal protection of industrial property rights is entrusted to the Patent Office. Copyright, by contrast, is governed by the specific Copyright and Related Rights Act.
