This compares with an average interest rate of about 1% earned on deposits in local banks. The number of property transactions in Sofia has risen by about 30% this year, and residential property prices have increased by about 6%, according to data compiled by Bulgarian Properties. The rise reflects a “recovery trend after several years of stagnation” and offers “opportunities for capital gains in the medium to long term”, the company said in a statement. Monthly rents for one-bedroom apartments in Sofia range from €300 to €550; for two-bedroom apartments, from €400 to €800; and for large apartments, from €900.
