WHAT BULGARIA PRODUCES

The Republic of Bulgaria has a very ancient history and is one of Europe’s oldest nations.

It has been a centre of industrial and agricultural production since the era of state socialism.

Today, industry and the production of goods and services are developed throughout Bulgaria. Industrial production ranges from automotive components to electronic and chemical products; many multinational companies have decided to relocate production to Bulgaria as a strategic base in the Balkans.

Bulgaria is at the centre of a large region enjoying strong, sustained economic growth. Low logistics, labour and business management costs, favourable corporate taxation and Bulgarian government incentives have enabled many entrepreneurs to establish a strategic presence in Bulgaria.

The Invest Bulgaria Agency offers numerous information and support services for companies wishing to invest in Bulgaria.

European funds are used in Bulgaria with a high absorption rate, exceeding 92% for the 2007–2013 funds, while for the 2014–2020 calls an even higher and more efficient absorption of the financial resources made available by the European Union to Bulgaria is expected.

It should also be noted that, in recent years, alongside textile manufacturing and industrial and mechanical production, a thriving chemical industry has developed, helped by the major oil refineries on the Black Sea. Italian entrepreneurs interested in international expansion, investment or relocation to Bulgaria should not overlook agriculture, food and wine production, which have long been widespread in the area. Tourism is another sector, including nature and wildlife tourism, winter sports tourism, with several ski resorts, and seaside tourism: the Black Sea coast has many resorts currently visited mainly by Russians, Chinese travellers and citizens of Northern Europe.
