Bulgaria’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.9% year on year in the third quarter, according to a flash estimate published by the National Statistical Institute on Friday, 13 November 2015.
Seasonally adjusted third-quarter GDP increased by 0.7% compared with the second quarter of 2015.
Bulgaria’s economic growth is therefore confirmed by the statistical institute’s projections.
This is therefore good news for Italian and international investors who have chosen Bulgaria for their international expansion. Bulgaria recorded a trade surplus of BGN 2.0 billion in the third quarter. Exports of goods and services amounted to BGN 15.9 billion, compared with imports of BGN 13.9 billion.
Third-quarter GDP growth compared with the previous quarter was driven by an increase in final consumption (+1.1%) and gross capital formation (+0.1%).
Compared with a year earlier, final consumption increased by 1.1% in the third quarter of 2015, while gross capital formation fell by 0.9%. Exports and imports of goods and services increased by 2.6% and 1.2%, respectively.
The National Statistical Institute will publish preliminary GDP estimates for the third quarter of 2015 on 4 December.
