The Economist estimated that Bulgaria's economy would grow by 2.5% in 2016. Macroeconomic data from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) indicate inflation of 1.6% and GDP per capita of USD 6,710. The 2.5% forecast suggests that Bulgarian GDP will grow at exactly the same rate as Hungary and Spain, and much less than Romania (3.9%). Germany's GDP will rise by 1.8%, while Britain will once again be the driving force behind EU growth, at 2.2%. Despite the “uncertainty” in Boyko Borisov's government caused by support from nationalist and “centre-left” parties, the prime minister is doing better than during his previous term of 2009–2013.
We believe that the Bulgarian economy’s potential and ability to attract investment are substantially greater than estimated.
Happy 2016!
