Public debt-to-GDP ratio at 18.3% — image from the original website

Eurostat has published updated data on the public debt-to-GDP ratio in the euro area for 2013.

Bulgaria ranks second in the 28-country euro area at 18.3%, after Estonia (10.1%) and ahead of Luxembourg (23.6%), while the highest debt-to-GDP ratios were recorded in Greece (174.9%), Portugal (128.0%), Italy (127.9%) and Ireland (123.3%).

It should be noted that the calculation of the debt-to-GDP ratio was updated following the introduction of the new calculation method known as ESA 2010, which increased the GDP of all European Union Member States and consequently reduced their public-debt-to-GDP ratios.
